Activities
1. Campaigning and communicating with people through public media
2. Organizing exhibitions and activities to provide knowledge for youth and people before the festival day
3. Walking for health within the distance 3 kilometers
4. Running for health within the distance of 10.5 kilometers
5. Cycling for health within the distance of 10.5 kilometers
6. Providing different kinds of exercises for health such as aerobic dance, Tikek,
Ram Pad, Mai Plong and aerobic Thai boxing.
Locations and Routes
The center of the event will be located on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road in front of the UN ESCAP headquarter building in front of Wat Makutkasarttriyaram School. Running– and cycling within the distance of 10.5 kilometers starting from the front of UN ESCAP building to Ratchadamnoen Nok, to Ananta Samakom Throne Hall, then make a turn behind the statue of King Rama V, turn left passing Wat Benjamaborpith to Sri Ayudlhya Road passing Jitlada Royal Palace, turn left to Sawankalok Road, turn left to Rajawithi Road, turn right to Pichai Road, turn left to Sukhothai Road connecting to Sam Sen Road and Chakapong Road, then turn left to Pra Sumain Road heading to Pan Fa Bridge and enter Ratchadamnoen Klang tracing back to the finishing line on the side of the UN ESCAP ( as shown in the map )

UN Day Run 2009
“Exercise to fight off Infuenza A 2009”

Background
October 24th each year is designated as UN Day to serve to recall the milestone of countries around the world reaching out across borders to create the organization aiming to create lasting peace for all humanity by means of resolving international conflicts and promoting developments in science, culture, food resources, healthcare, and childcare.
2009 marks the year when the world is threatened with the possibility of further illness from the H1N1 pandemic. The crisis leaves an immense impact on public health and public welfare with vast ramifications, especially for both economies and societies.
The Thai Health Promotion Foundation has worked together with the Ministry of Public Health, the PAT Running Foundation, Health Network organizations, and the general public to put forth a proposed event, “UN Run Day 2009” on Saturday October 24th, 2009. The objectives are to raise awareness of the crucial role the United Nation plays for health on the world stage and to present a sport opportunity for the public to show its support in the fight against the H1N1 pandemic.
Objectives
1. To raise public awareness of the importance of the UN.
2. To campaign against the spread of the H1N1 virus through education,
especially important preventive measures
3. To promote the life-long pursuit of good health through regular exercise.
Targets
The general public of all ages and sexes, including the handicapped, with no less than ten thousand to participate in the event
Activities
1. Walk distance 3 km
2. Run distance 10.5 km
3. Bike distance 10.5 km
4. Wheel Chair distance 10.5 km
5. Other activities such as aerobics, Taiji, Qi Gong, Wai Tan Gong,
Stick, Kickboxing, etc.
